If you want to go out dancing to a Latin Nightclub or to Latin party - you have to know these dances! They are a perfect compliment to Salsa and are easy and fun to learn. We will have you dancing in NO TIME! Like always no partner is required. 

Here is the order that we will follow until the end of December:
November 13th - Bachata
November 20th - Merengue
November 27th - Cumbia
December 4th - Cha Cha Cha

What you can expect from this class? You can expect executing the basic steps and turns of some of the most popular Latin Dances and having fun doing it!

Merengue

Having arrived in the US in the early part of the 20th Century from the Dominican Republic, Merengue is pure, playful fun. The rhythm is the simplest of the dances making the footwork easy, and the arms and turns more complex. Merengue is the perfect compliment to the Salsa and a must learn if you plan on going out to a Latin Club.

Cha Cha

A spicy, upbeat Latin dance that is related to the Mambo (a slower version.) This dance gained popularity on the streets of NYC in the late '50's and '60's. Originally called "Cha Cha Cha" and a favorite with jazz musicians and the Latin Community, the Cha Cha of today is still as exciting as ever. It is such a versatile dance that it can easily be done to many different styles of music from classic Tito Puente to Santana and Ricky Martin.

Bachata

Bachata originates from the Dominican Republic and is a guitar based music which recently evolved from bolero. During much of its history Bachata music was denigrated by Dominican society and associated with rural backwardness and delinquency. In the 1990s, bachata 's instrumentation changed from acoustic Spanish guitar to electric steel string. The new electric bachata soon became an international phenomenon, and today bachata is as popular as salsa and merengue in Latin American dancehalls.
