 Who should take this class: Students who have completed "Introduction to Salsa" or have 1 year or more of dance experience (any dancing) We are very excited about these series of classes for two reasons: 1) we believe that these courses with one hour of dance practice after the class is the BEST way for students to learn and 2) we love the dance studio! It is a beautiful, professional dance studio with plenty of room, wood floor, mirrors, a sound system and air conditioning! Come with a partner or come alone--a partner is NOT necessary. Class Description: You will learn to execute basic steps in a comfortable and natural manner. We will teach you how to switch weight and how to balance, proper centering etc. - Not only will you learn dance moves and combinations, but you will also learn the techniques of how to actually lead for the gentleman and how to follow for the ladies--this will allow you dance together without having to know a set of moves beforehand! The gentleman will choose whatever move feels good to him and the lady will know how to follow! This is what makes salsa dancing so much fun!
- Ladies, you will learn the basic techniques of spinning and gentleman, you will learn how to lead a lady into the spin and help her maintain her balance.
- You will learn timing - actually executing the steps you've learned TO THE MUSIC. You won't just learn moves, but you will learn to dance to the music and to the beat of the Salsa song! So when you go salsa dancing, you will be able to dance to any salsa song and keep the salsa rhythm all night long!
For Ladies we recommend to start taking the "Ladies Salsa Styling" Class concurrent with Salsa Level 1 class to begin working on Body rolls, hips and arms styling and body movement.
When: Tuesday nights 8pm to 9 pm is Dance Instruction; 9pm to 10pm you get to practice your new moves and get individual attention and feedback from the instructors! Or Saturday afternoons 3pm to 4pm is Dance Instruction; 4pm to 5pm you get to practice your new moves!
Location: DF Latin Dance Studio; 346 S 500 E Suite 200 C, SLC Price: $60 per person for 6 sessions (1 class per week). Price includes FREE Salsa Music CD & 1 extra hour of Salsa Practice after every class! Drop Ins: $15 per person per class/ 2hours ( doesn't include CD). You can drop in anytime (provided the space is available). Practice times: All currently registered students can come on Mondays and Tuesdays 9-10pm and on Saturdays 4-5pm for a FREE practice hour.
